The Wrestling program had the privilege of spending yesterday afternoon with the U.S. Army 20th Special Forces Group located in Parkville. This unit is being deployed to Afghanistan next month. The purpose of this trip was to expose the students to those who sacrifice and serve so that we can enjoy our lives each day. Several members of this elite unit were very accomplished wrestlers as well. The 20th Special Forces Group gave the students a tour of the facility and a background on the types of missions they conduct while deployed. They talked about how wrestling contributed to there success in life as well as in combat situations. They stressed good work ethic, teamwork, taking care of your teammates, never giving up, completing your task, among other topics. They then conducted a team building exercise that stressed not only teamwork but leadership, accountability of personnel and equipment, and physical activity. The team really did a great job with this exercise and concluded the afternoon with dinner.
